Bill Metcalfe receives TMEA “Friend of Music Education Award” for 2011!

Friend of Music award:
We have many friends of music education so it is not easy to select one to recognize. But this year we have one friend indeed who has supported TMEA in so many ways.
From the TMEA President-
For a decade Bill Metcalfe of the Steinway Gallery of Nashville has supplied 4 to 6 grand pianos yearly, at a greatly reduced price, for the TMEA Conference and All-State concerts. He has also cheerfully saved us on the occasions when we required immediate repair service because of someones mistake, unforeseen immediate tunings, or piano pickup or delivery at night or on weekends. In addition to helping TMEA, Bill has been active in other related activities. He is on the board of Friends of Arts at Belmont University, is working on starting a Friends program at Tennessee Tech University, and started the Friends of Music at the University of Evansville. Bill also sponsors many music organizations throughout the state, including the Murfreesboro Youth Orchestra, Tennessee State Music Competition, and the Nashville Piano Achievement Competition. Bill works closely with school music educators and piano teachers statewide. He also works closely with every university’s music department and has helped greatly with their aspirations of becoming All Steinway Schools. Certainly Bill deserves TMEA¹s Friend of Music Award and I am so please to present it to him at this time.
